Shoplifter Bites, Punches Nordstrom Employees At Long Island Mall, Police Say
A shoplifter at Nordstroms inside the Roosevelt Field Mall on Long Island did all she could to avoid being apprehended, punching and biting an employee who attempted to stop her, police said.
In Nassau County, officers responded to the East Garden City mall shortly before 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16, where there was a report of a robbery in progress at Nordstrom on Old Country Road.
Upon arrival, police said that officers were told that a 22-year-old employee noticed Hempstead resident Shatara Coney Edwards, age 36, attempting to exit the store with unpaid items.

A Long Island man has been arrested for allegedly having brass knuckles, drugs, and fake COVID-19 vaccine cards when stopped in a high-crime area.
Zachary Honig, age 21, of Levittown, was arrested around 10:40 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, for the incident which took place in East Garden City, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, the Nassau County Police Department Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team spotted Honig sitting in a gray Mazda with the engine running in a high crime area.

A strange scene unfolded at a Long Island hotel where a burglar handed over his ID to his victims during a late-night theft, leading to his arrest, police said.
It is alleged that at approximately 3 a.m. on Friday, April 16, Michael C. Lee, age 29, of Bayside, Queens, who was staying at the Travelodge on Northern Boulevard in Manhasset, broke into another guest’s room through an unlocked sliding window.

Hudson Valley Man Nabbed With Loaded Handgun During Traffic Stop, Police Say
A man was arrested following a traffic stop by state police for the alleged criminal possession of a loaded firearm in the area.
David E. George, age 25, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested around 8 p.m., on Thursday, March 25, in the town of LaGrange, said Trooper AJ Hicks.
According to Hicks, George was stopped in a 2014 Mazada for a traffic violation on Route 55.
During an investigation, troopers found that George was in possession of a loaded Polymer P80 handgun with no serial number, Hicks said.
