Two police officers from Newark are being hailed as heroes after they stopped a 13-year-old boy from jumping off a third story fire escape at a treatment facility, police said. “I commend Sgt. [Antonio] Barbosa and Officer [Shaquille] Johnson for taking the initiative to immediately devise a plan of action that saved this boy’s life,” Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said. Madison Police Officers Honored For Heroic Suicide Save
Three Madison police officers knew they had to think fast when responding to a female juvenile attempting to jump off the Union Hill train bridge. Chatham Borough officers engaged her in conversation, holding her attention, as Madison Sgt. James Cavezza and officers Christopher Burans and Travis Daniel approached her from behind. They grabbed the girl by her waist and pulled her to safety, risking their own lives nearly 80 feet above the live wires on the tracks below. Cop Honored For Saving 5-Year-Old From Attack By Rabid Coyote In Westchester
A police officer from the area received a prestigious honor after coming to the rescue of a 5-year-old girl being attacked by a rabid coyote. The Pittsburgh-based Carnegie Hero Fund Commission announced that Irvington police officer Arcangelo Liberatore was one of 19 people being celebrated with the Carnegie Medals of Heroism. Two Cited For Heroic Actions In Rescuing Would-Be Bridge Jumper In Norwalk
The Norwalk Police Commission has awarded two local residents for their heroic actions. Juan Garcia and Donald Remson received a Civilian Recognition Award on Monday, Dec. 17 for the actions they displayed in an incident earlier in the month. On Saturday, Dec. 8, Garcia witnessed a woman attempting to jump off Stroffolino Bridge. He exited his vehicle while telling his daughter, who was with him at the time, to call 911. Garcia then grabbed the woman as she was climbing over the bridge’s railing. Garcia was able to grab the woman but unable to help her back over the railing and to safety. …

Woman Rescued From Burning Car On I-95
Quick action by two witnesses to a car crash saved a Norwalk woman's life after she experienced a medical emergency on I-95. The incident took place around noon Wednesday when both Bridgeport resident Frederico Davis and Connecticut Conservation Police Officer John Hey witnessed a two-car motor vehicle accident in the area of the Black Rock Turnpike overpass, said officials with the Fairfield Fire Department.
