Suspicious Vehicle Spotted Before Cecil County House Fire, Officials Say
A suspicious vehicle was spotted leaving the area just before a house went up in flames late Saturday night in Cecil County, fire officials said.
The fire broke out at 10:42 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, inside a two-story single-family home on the 5800 block of Telegraph Road in Elkton, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal, released Monday.
The fire, which caused an estimated $1,000 in damage, was discovered by a neighbor, officials said.
The home did not have a smoke alarm, and no fire alarms or sprinklers were present, they noted. No injuries were reported.

Rebecca Kowalski, 52, of Kingston, was pronounced dead at 4:42 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, the Luzerne County Coroner's Office said on Friday, June 27. She died from complications of thermal burns and smoke inhalation sustained in a house fire on the 50 block of Payne Avenue at approximately 6:44 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24.

A respected veteran, longtime police officer, father, and grandfather died in a house fire that tore through his home on Washington Avenue in Revere earlier this week, officials said.
Richard Serino, 77, was killed when flames engulfed part of his multi-family home on Tuesday, June 17, authorities said.
