Two children, including a 7-month-old baby, are recovering from injuries sustained when their drunk mother crashed her SUV on Long Island, police said.
The incident happened at around 9:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, in Shirley, on the Sunrise Highway Service Road near Maple Avenue, according to Suffolk County Police.
Investigators said Kimberly Diaz, age 27, of West Babylon, was driving a GMC Yukon eastbound on the service road when she lost control and crashed into a utility pole. No other vehicles were involved.

Seven people are facing charges after an overnight sobriety checkpoint at the start of the Memorial Day weekend on Long Island.
Authorities conducted the operation in Patchogue at the intersection of Waverly Avenue and North Service Road from around 11:10 p.m. Friday, May 26, until 2:30 a.m. Saturday, May 27.

An alleged drunk driver is facing charges after reportedly crashing her car in the region with a young child inside, authorities said.
Troopers in Rensselaer County were called just before 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, with reports of a single-car crash in Hoosick Falls on Ball Street, according to New York State Police.
